Nana Ama McBrown advocates early parenthood and delayed marriage

Celebrated Ghanaian actress and television personality, Nana Ama McBrown, has sparked discussions on social media by advocating for early parenthood while advising young people to consider delaying marriage.
She shared her views during her recent appearance on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, whilst highlighting the growing conversation about balancing personal fulfillment with societal expectations.
In the interview, McBrown emphasized the benefits of starting a family earlier in life, citing her own experiences as a mother. “Becoming a parent at a younger age allows you to enjoy and grow with your children, creating strong bonds,” she said.
However, she cautioned against rushing into marriage, advising young people to ensure they are fully prepared for the commitment. Preferably marry at age 35 if you are woman and 40-45 if you are a man, she added.
McBrown, who became a mother in her early 40s, spoke candidly about the joys and challenges of motherhood.
She encouraged younger women to consider having children sooner rather than later, noting that it allows for more energy and time to focus on raising children.
“Starting a family earlier doesn’t mean you have to rush into marriage,” she explained. “You can still take your time to find the right partner.”
Nana Ama McBrown’s advocacy for early parenthood and delayed marriage is reshaping the dialogue around family and marriage in Ghana. By sharing her views, she is encouraging young people to prioritize their own readiness and circumstances when making life decisions, rather than adhering strictly to societal timelines.
